Mhlanga Inc. employs highly experienced and skilled professional staff with various professional affiliations and academic qualifications, which enables us to provide a comprehensive, integrated and sometimes a multi-disciplinary service offering to our clients.  Hence we offer a solution to our clients, not just a service.  Each of our professionals offer specialized expertise in their respective fields of practice.  We make the entire professional team available to client’s disposal.  We set out hereunder a summary of each professional staff member

Mr Sthembelo Mhlanga

Managing Director Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a Conveyancer

Qualifications

Mr Mhlanga holds an LLB degree which he obtained from the University of Natal in 2001.  He pursued his studies in law and obtained a Masters Degree (LLM), in Maritime law again from the University of Natal in 2002.

Professional Experience:

Upon completion of his Masters Degree he joined Livingston Leandy Incorporated (LLI) to serve his articles of clerkship.  He worked for LLI where he gained experience in Debt Collection, Liquidations, Magistrate’s and High Court Litigation, Third Party Claims, to mention but a few.  He later ceded his articles to Jafta Incorporated.

 

He served the latter part of his articles at Jafta Incorporated until he was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa on the 7th of March 2005.  He was appointed a Professional Assistant at Jafta Incorporated immediately after his admission.  On the 23rd of May 2005 he was granted a certificate for the Right of Appearance in the High Court.  On the 1st of July 2005 he was appointed a Director at Jafta Incorporated.

 

He worked as a Director from July 2005 until December 2006 when he resigned to open his own firm, Mhlanga Incorporated in January 2007.

While directing at Jafta Incorporated he started and headed the Commercial Law Department where he specialized largely in Commercial Law, High Court Litigation, Labour Law and Conveyancing. He also represented a large number of clients in the High and Labour Court. He also conducted trainings in Labour for the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry and Commercial Law for Department of Education in the quest to impart knowledge to client’s personnel.  He gained a wealth of experience in those fields of law, particularly in Labour law when initiating and presided over disciplinary hearing, represented clients at CCMA, Bargaining Councils and Labour Court.

 

Few weeks after he started his firm Mr Mhlanga’s tireless effort to serving the community was rewarded when he was elected to the Executive Board of directors for the Durban Youth Radio Station, a community radio station.  He served as a Director of Legal Services in the said Board until 2009 when his term of office expired and did not avail himself for re-election.

 

Mr. Bongani Cele

Senior Associate Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa

Qualifications

Mr. Cele joined the firm as a candidate attorney. He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court on 15 March 2010. He was appointed as a director of the firm in January 2011 specialising in Criminal law and Forensic Investigations. He has gained a wealth of experience in the said fields of law

Professional Experience:

Mr Cele is a specialist Criminal practitioner and Forensic Investigator. He heads the firm’s Criminal Law and Forensics department. 

He has successfully acted for various criminal clients and conducted numerous forensic investigations. He is an expert in the Criminal Law and Forensic Investigations.

In July 2016, the Judge President of the KwaZulu-Natal High Court invited Mr Cele to act as a Judge of the High Court: Pietermaritzburg from 22 August 2016 to 22 September 2016. This one month of Mr Cele acting as a Judge of the High Court is the highest watermark and a game changer for his career. This is the highest level of recognition of any legal practitioner’s contribution to the development of the law. The firm prides itself to produce an Acting Judge within such a short period of its existence. Great things are yet to come.

Mr Sihle Hlongwane

Qualifications

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Unisa)

Professional Experience:

Mr Hlongwane worked as an Interpretor employed by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development for various Magistrtes’ Courts and High Courts in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. Whilst serving as the interpretor he was appointed as a shorpsteward for the Public Servants Association (PSA) where he represented numerous 

employees at disciplinary hearings, arbitrations and Labour Court. He has gain experience in Labour Law.

Mr Hlongwane studied his LLB part-time through Unisa during his busy schedule as an interpretor and shopsteward and completed it in December 2016. He joined the firm as a Candidate Attorney in April 2017. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Courts of South Africa in October 2019 and was immediately appointed as a Senior Associate in the firm

Mr Andile Mcineka

Associate

Qualifications

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (UKZN)

Professional Experience:

Mr Andile Mcineka holds an LLB degree obtained from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and is an LLM candidate at UKZN. He was the Chairperson of the Black Lawyers Association Student Chapter at UKZN and further served as National Executive Committee member of the organisation.

 

Andile Commenced his Articles of Clerkship with Tomlinson Mnguni James Attorneys where he was exposed to Commercial and Civil Litigation Departments.

He then ceded his articles and joined Mhlanga Incorporated as a Candidate Attorney in February 2019 where he is involved in Commercial Law Department where he specializes largely in Commercial Law, High Court Litigation, Labour Law. Andile has gained a wealth of experience in these fields of law.

 

Andile has a passion for law which motivated him to publish various articles which saw him co-authoring a book chapter titled “A Perspective on the Principle of ‘Constitutionalism’ in Relation to Executive and Legislative Accountability in South Africa” . His latest article “Constitutionalism at Loggerheads with Judicial Review” appeared in Without Prejudice, February 2018
